Taking suo moto notice in response to multiple complaints, Chief Election Commissioner Fakharuddin G Ebrahim directed all provincial chief secretaries to make necessary arrangements to comply with the order within 15 days.
“If political parties fail to remove the banners within two weeks then the removal charges of banners will be recovered from them [political parties],” a senior official of ECP told The Express Tribune on Friday.
“[All] parties are requested to make necessary arrangements for the removal of their flags, banners, hoardings, etc from all cities and towns at their own expenses and restore all sites into their original condition within 15 days, failing which the removal charges on that account will be recovered from them,” stated an official statement.
Justice (retd) Fakharuddin G Ebrahim used his discretionary powers as the ECP regional offices received hundreds of complaints regarding unnecessary use of banners and political hoardings on the walls of their houses, added the officials.

very good instructions! - even the political parties flags must not be available in any area/town or city of Pakistan. These flags area by area parties by parties gives a feeling that we are not in Pakistan instead we are in the country or territory of that party :|
The Election commission should ban all kind of election advertising (billboards, wall chalking, etc). This will not only help the environment but also reduce advertisement costs. Forcing politicians to rely on the people to people contact which is the essence of democracy. This should be enforced across the board to include different types of jalsa jaloos as well.
A bold step in the right direction, indeed. Please ask them specifically to white wash the walls as well, not only removing the flags.
At the end of the day this is all the ECP has turned out to be good for....a hapless hall monitor!
Why political parties are even allowed to put their signs, flags and banners at a public place? City government should give out licenses after a fee for these displays. Any violators should be fined later.
The picture strangely looks nice, flags from multiple parties at one place... a show of coexistence !
nonetheless the elections are over and they should have been removed weeks ago.
