Squash: Bukhari, Aslam move into Asian junior quarters

In the U17 girls’ competition, Pakistan’s Sadia Gul and Madina crashed out of the title race.

Second-seed Ali Bukhari was through to the quarter-finals of the Asian Junior Individual Championship U19 category after thumping Sri Lanka’s Holpitige Ravindu Laksiri 3-0 in his first match of the competition in Jordan.


Bukhari received a bye in the first round and had little trouble beating Laksiri as he won by 11-7, 11-8 and 11-2. He will now face Kuwait’s Yousif Nizar Saleh, who defeated compatriot Ammar Fareed 3-2.

Tayyab Aslam also made his way into the last-eight, beating Madhav Dhingra with game scores of 11-6, 12-10, 11-9.

Meanwhile, in the U17 girls’ competition, Pakistan’s Sadia Gul and Madina crashed out of the title race.
