ISLAMABAD:

Awami National Party (ANP) leader Senator Haji Adeel has asked the government to consider withdrawing the proposed one percent increase in General Sales Tax (GST).

He also demanded to bring GST down to 15 per cent.

Adeel was speaking at an event organised by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Wednesday, said a press release. The ANP senator said that the hike in GST would trigger a new wave of inflation making the life of the common man even more miserable. He said that the senate standing committee on finance has proposed 113 recommendations to be included in the finance bill 2013-14 to make it more people-friendly.

President ICCI Zafar Bakhtawari said that business men were key stakeholders in any country’s economy and the government should take them in the loop to help improve it.
