Safety Measures: Guards to be deputed on KU buses

KARACHI:
Armed security guards will be deputed on 30 buses of the University of Karachi (KU) as a measure to boost security for the students in the upcoming fall, The Express Tribune learnt on Monday.

The KU vice chancellor, Prof. Dr Muhammad Qaiser, said that it was a precautionary step to avert chances of any untoward incident, in the wake of the recent attack on Sardar Bahadur Khan University’s bus that claimed lives of 14 female students in Quetta.

“Rangers’ personnel will ensure vigilance at the bus terminal on the university’s premises, while private security guards will ride with the students,” he said.
