LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Monday extended till June 28 the interim bail granted to former federal minister for overseas Pakistanis Ghulam Sarwar, who is accused of securing a graduation degree on the basis of a fake intermediate certificate.

When the court resumed the hearing of the case on Monday, a provincial law officer sought more time to furnish documentary evidence against Sarwar.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had lodged a case against Sarwar, alleging that he had used a duplicate diploma belonging to a person of the same name to qualify to sit the BA exams. The certificate stated that the candidate’s father’s name was Abdul Hameed Khan, but the former minister’s father’s name was Muhammad Hayat Khan.

The ACE had also lodged a case against a former chairman of the Punjab Board of Technical Education, its secretary and two other officials for issuing the duplicate diploma unlawfully.
