Kidnap and murder: Child found killed 3 days ago identified

A 12-year-old boy, whose body was found lying near the canal three days ago and was later buried by the police was identified by his father on Friday on visiting the Sambrial police station where he saw a photograph.
Police said the child had gone missing from in front of his home in Sarfraz Colony in Sabzi Mandi area five days ago.
The father, Inamullah, a property dealer, told police that the kidnappers had called him the next day and had demanded a Rs1.2 million ransom. He said he had asked the kidnappers for a few days time to arrange the money. He said the kidnappers had called again the same day and threatened to kill the child if police were informed. Inamullah said he had recognised the voice, who, he said, was one of his relatives. Inamullah said he informed the police, who called the suspect several times, but found his phone switched off.
Sambrial police said, the boy’s body was found near Sambrial canal three days ago.
They said it had bruises around the neck and speculated that he had been strangled. They said the boy seemed to have been killed a day ago.
They said they had tried to ascertain his identity before the burial, but had failed. The boy’s picture was displayed at the police station.
The investigation officer said that the body would be exhumed after obtaining orders in this respect.
Danish was the oldest of five siblings. No one has been arrested .
