ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has imposed a ban on recruitment in all federal ministries, divisions and all semi-autonomous organisations and corporations working under them, in its bid to implement the austerity measures.

The government has also asked records of all recruitment made in government departments during the last three months of the PPP administration’s tenure and under the caretaker setup.

The Cabinet Division has also asked all federal organisations to provide lists of vacancies in their respective departments.

The purpose of the move is said to be to implement principles of austerity, transparency and merit promised by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The Cabinet Division letter – F.no.4/1/93-R-1 – has advised all ministries and divisions to provide details of all vacancies filled in violation of orders issued by the Supreme Court during the last five years regarding recruitment.

They have been asked to provide full details regarding all permanent and temporary seats that are vacant and the abilities, rules and procedures to fill them.

It may be recalled that advertisements for filling vacant positions for the chiefs of all the important government organisations have already been advertised in national newspapers.
