Budget: SCCI terms budget ‘revenue-generating’
President SCCI urged the PML-N government to amend SROs 98 and 505 by excluding exporters from withholding agents.
SIALKOT:
Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has termed the federal budget for fiscal year 2013-14 a revenue generating budget, calling it a comprehensive budget. Addressing a post budget seminar held at SCCI Auditorium here Thursday, the President SCCI Sheikh Abdul Majid urged the PML-N government to amend SROs 98 and 505 by excluding exporters from withholding agents. SCCI President suggested that clause (f) inserted by SRO 98 in SRO 660(I)/2007 shall be deleted and words “other than exporters” be added at the end of clause (d) of said SRO 660. He also raised his suspicion on the new development of providing discretionary powers to audit commissioners saying such powers have always been misused in the past. He also expressed his concern over the decision to make wealth statements mandatory for every individual and doubling the minimum tax rate.
