Finance: Businessmen praise banking sector’s performance

Although Islamic finance is at emerging stage of development in Pakistan, it has experienced rapid expansion.

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Muhammad Haroon Agar Islamic financial industry has gained wide acceptance and appreciation.

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Muhammad Haroon Agar has stated that growth and turnaround in Pakistan’s banking sector over the years has been remarkable and unprecedented. Agar was exchanging views with the President and Chief Executive Officer of Burj Bank Limited, Ahmed Khizer Khan.


He stated that today the Islamic financial industry has gained wide acceptance and appreciation and has expanded beyond the traditional borders of Muslim countries into the major industrial economies to become an integral component of the global financial system.

Although Islamic finance is at emerging stage of development in Pakistan, it has experienced rapid expansion and is fast developing as a viable and robust form of financial intermediation with significant potential, Agar added.

The Government should pass a law that only those persons should qualify to take any role in trade bodies who have been paying their taxes honestly.... No representation without taxation!!
