Police officers assault protesters in Faisalabad.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday sought a report from the IG Punjab over an incident of police brutality towards female protesters in Faisalabad earlier in the day, Express News reported.

Residents including women and children were protesting against unannounced load-shedding in the city. They had resorted to throwing stones and had also burned down a FESCO office, after which police officers abused and assaulted the protesters.

Sharif ordered the IG police to submit a detailed report of the incident within 48 hours.

He also directed Punjab Minister Rana Sanaullah to travel to Faisalabad and personally conduct an inquiry.
