RAWALPINDI: Unknown gunmen shot dead a runaway couple at Ghausia bus terminal near Pirwadhai Mor on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Imran Alam Khan, 29, a resident of Haiderabad Town, Sargodha and Mehnaz, 24. According to Nazar Muhammad, the duty officer at the Naseerabad Police Station, the couple left Sargodha for Rawalpindi earlier that day. Upon reaching the bus station, they received a volley of bullets fired by assailants who were already waiting for them. Both died on the spot.

Police and Rescue 1122 rushed to the crime scene and later shifted the bodies to District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem. He said that initial reports had revealed that the girl was already married but was romantically involved with Khan, who wanted to marry her. “It seems that they had eloped but were probably tracked down by the girl’s husband,” he claimed.
