ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Army has denied New Delhi’s allegations that it killed an Indian soldier at the Line of Control (LoC).
On Friday, Indian army officials claimed that Pakistani troops shot and killed an Indian officer near the LoC in disputed Himalayan state of Kashmir.
“A junior commanding officer was shot dead by the Pakistani troops near Poonch sector,” a senior army official from New Delhi claimed. “There was firing from the other side and our officer was killed,” the unnamed officer was quoted by AFP as saying.
However, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) categorically denied the allegations, saying that no Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian army positions across the LoC.
Meanwhile, Rajesh Kalia, another senior Indian Army officer stationed in Indian-administered Kashmir, said the latest attack has “not been declared as a ceasefire violation” yet since a probe is under way.
Tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad spiked in January and February this year when six soldiers from both sides were killed in exchanges along the Line of Control.
