KARACHI:
Pakistan’s junior hockey team departs for the tour of Europe, hoping for positive results that will increase the side’s confidence ahead of the Junior Hockey World Cup in India in December.
Pakistan play a total of eight matches during the tour before their return on June 16. The colts will first visit Holland for two matches against their Dutch counterparts on June 3 and 4. Following this, the team will contest a four-match series with Germany from June 6 before taking on Belgium in a couple of matches on June 14 and 15.
Junior team coach Anjum Saeed said the players were prepared for the assignment.
“The players have gone through a rigorous training programme,” Saeed told The Express Tribune. “There were two phases in the training camp and players have remained in good shape. We’re hoping for good results.”
Captain Umar Bhutta said the upcoming test will give much-needed exposure to the players.
