National U-16 football event postponed
Defending champions Sindh see delay as opportunity to prepare better.
KARACHI:
The National Under-16 Football Championship 2013, which was originally scheduled to take place in Okara on May 31, will now begin from June 7 in Arifwala, Pakpattan.
The Pakistan Football Federation made the changes due to the sudden death of the District Football Association President Muhammad Amjad Chaudhry.
Defending champions Sindh welcomed the decision.
“The delay is a good opportunity for my team as it will have more time to practice for the championship.” Sindh Football Association (SFA) Secretary and coach Hassan Baloch told The Express Tribune. “We usually travel by train which is very time and energy consuming.
“Thanks to the delay, we can now reach Arifwala a week before the event and get our players accustomed to the weather there.”
