Industry: Pharma industry assured of support

Chairman PPMA apprised Bokhari that the pharmaceutical industry provided employment to 4.5 million Pakistanis.

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari has said that the problems faced pharmaceutical companies will be accorded the highest priority. He was addressing a delegation of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) led by Chairman Nasir M Qureshi on Tuesday, according to a press release. Bokhari listened to the problems faced by pharmaceutical companies and explained steps being taken by the government to resolve them. He informed the delegation that under the 18th constitutional amendment certain departments were handed to provinces and difficulties arising from the process were gradually being addressed. Chairman PPMA apprised Bokhari that the pharmaceutical industry provided employment to 4.5 million Pakistanis. Pakistan was exporting medicines to 60 countries earning precious foreign exchange revenue, he added.
