Advice for policymakers: ‘IT can help transform economy’

Pakistan’s economic growth can accelerate by improving its talent pool with the help of technology.

KARACHI:
Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) said on Sunday that information technology can help alleviate poverty and transform our society and economy.

Pakistan’s economic growth can accelerate by improving its talent pool with the help of technology, it said. “The incoming government should initiate expanded online learning programmes,” said PEW President Dr Murtaza Mughal.

He said that our policymakers must understand how crucial technology is for the future of Pakistan. Adopting the latest technologies altered to match the needs of local people and organisations can help our country become a developed nation, he said.

Dr Mughal said that cloud computing technologies can be tapped to provide education and to initiate interactive learning and interaction with professors over a smartphone or economical personal computer.
