RAWALPINDI:

Two people were critically injured in separate fire incidents in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

In the first incident, which took place in Nai Abadi near Thali Mohri Chowk, 10-year old Mubashir sustained serious burn injuries after his clothes caught fire while cooking in the kitchen.

Rescue workers told The Express Tribune that Mubashir was preparing lunch for himself when his clothes caught fire. Mubashir’s father, Iqbal said the family was napping when they heard Mubashir cry for help. When they came out of the room, they saw Mubashir engulfed in flames.

Although they managed to put out the fire but the boy sustained 70 per cent burn wounds. He was taken to the intensive care unit of the district headquartes hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

Meanwhile, a woman identified as Amber Pervaiz, sustained burn wounds after a fire broke out in her house due to short circuiting in Allama Iqbal Colony near Dhok Hassu. “Pervaiz sustained almost 80 per cent burn wounds,” rescue officials said.

The victim was taken to the Holy Family Hospital in critical condition.
