Tampered nikah nama case: Woman gets pre-arrest bail

LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Tariq Mehmood Zargham on Friday granted pre-arrest bail to a woman in a case registered against her by her ex-husband. The complainant had accused his former wife of tampering with their nikah nama by adding eight tola (90 grams) gold to the dower. The judge granted her bail against Rs50,000 bail bonds. He directed the investigation officer to present the record of the case at the next hearing on May 31.  The judge summoned the complainant. The petitioner, Mehwish, said she had been implicated in a false case by her former husband Muhammad Imran in connivance with the local police. She submitted that the FIR registered against her was meant to humiliate her. The FIR was registered in Islampura police station under sections 471, 420 and 468 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Imran said he came to know about the tampered nikah nama when her wife asked him for the jewellery after they divorced. He said that his wife had tampered with her copy of the nikah nama. He said he had obtained a copy of the nikah nama from the union council office which supported his claim.
