Saudi embassy condemns Bannu attack that claimed lives of 12 security personnel

Assault took place on Tuesday, targeting a joint army and paramilitary checkpoint in Bannu's Mali Khel area

The Saudi Arabian embassy in Pakistan on Thursday condemned a militant attack in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) that killed 10 army soldiers and two Frontier Constabulary personnel, expressing condolences to the victims' families and Pakistani citizens.

The assault, which took place on Tuesday, targeted a joint army and paramilitary checkpoint in Bannu District’s Mali Khel area.

Militants reportedly detonated an explosives-laden vehicle after an attempt to storm the post was repelled by Pakistani forces, resulting in a firefight that killed six attackers, according to military.

In a statement, the Saudi embassy in Islamabad denounced the violence, expressing “the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of the attack on a joint checkpoint in the city of Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of people.”

The embassy added condolences “to the families of the victims, the government and the people of Pakistan” and extended wishes for the injured to recover swiftly.
