Smooth transition: Zardari felicitates nation on elections
President says holding of elections in accordance to constitutional provisions was a triumph for the people.

President Asif Ali Zardari has felicitated the nation over the successful conduct of elections, marking the first step towards democratic transition in the country.
A spokesman for Bilawal House said that the president, while congratulating the nation, said that the holding of elections in accordance to the constitutional provisions was a triumph for the people, for democracy and of the system put in place for peaceful democratic transition.
The President also felicitated all national institutions and individuals who worked hard “to make possible the holding of this gigantic exercise so vital for the strengthening of democracy.”
“The people of Pakistan have spoken through the ballot,” the president further said.
He expressed hope that the next phase of democratic transition, which is the smooth transfer of power, will also be in accordance with the will of the people and the constitution, the spokesperson said.
