ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Water and Power Musadik Malik on Thursday revealed the strategy for providing uninterrupted electricity for Election Day.

Under the plan, uninterrupted electricity will be supplied across the country for 36 hours by operating power plants at maximum capacity and suspending the power supply for institutes, industry and the commercial sector. Pakistan State Oil has been also been asked to build up its stocks for providing oil to power generation companies and the finance ministry has assured that it will provide a month’s credit to the oil company for this purpose.

“Besides this, the ministry of petroleum and natural resources has provided 150mmcfd gas for power generation to generate 800MW on Election Day,” Malik said.

“Sensitive installations will be provided security to avert any unpleasant activity,” Malik maintained, adding that CCTV cameras would be installed to monitor the installations.
