Distant Learning: AIOU to open 10,000 schools
Sangi urged the help of public and private sectors organisations, civil societies and educationists for this purpose.
ISLAMABAD:
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will establish 100,000 “Open Schools” in far-flung and backward parts of the country to bring back dropouts children, particularly the girls for enriching literacy rate of the country. This was stated by AIOU Vice-Chancellor Prof Nazir Ahmed Sangi while addressing as a chief guest at the first Business Alumni Reunion held here at National University of Modern Languages (NUML). He urged the help of public and private sectors organisations, civil societies and educationists for this purpose. The schools, he said, would be launched in selected districts in all the four provinces to provide basic, middle and secondary levels education to the girls, young, men and women needing these levels of education.
