Quetta Visit: Kayani reviews poll security

According to ISPR, 7,000 army personnel have been deployed in Balochistan to perform security duties.

Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Monday visited Balochistan to review the security situation with regards to the upcoming elections.



The army chief was briefed about the security plan for the 2013 elections by the military command in the province. General Kayani underscored the need for increased and effective coordination between different security agencies in line with the election security plan and directed concerned quarters to ensure the polls are conducted peacefully.

The briefing was also attended by the provincial administration officials.

According to Inter Services Public Relations, 7,000 army personnel have been deployed in Balochistan to perform security duties along with police and other law enforcement agencies. The army personnel have already reached all districts in the province for election duties and have started patrolling different areas, the ISPR statement said. Ballot papers have already been transported to respective destinations for Election Day use, according to ISPR.
