LHC asked to cancel APML registration

Advocate Afaq Ahmad filed the petition.

LAHORE:

A writ petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking the cancellation of the All Pakistan Muslim League’s registration with the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Advocate Afaq Ahmad filed the petition, submitting that since former president and army chief Pervez Musharraf, the head of the APML, had been permanently disqualified from contesting general elections, his party’s registration should also be cancelled. He said a disqualified person could not head a political party. The petitioner asked the court to direct the ECP to cancel the APML’s registration.
