MULTAN:
The violence against certain political parties in Karachi is a result of differences between these parties and some local groups,” Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf president Javed Hashmi said on Friday.
He was addressing a press conference at his home in Multan.
The PTI president said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) should resolve its differences with the groups and not seek to present it as a national issue.
He said if voted into power, the PTI would focus on eliminating terrorism through talks with all the stakeholders in the on-going war.
“We have condemned and we will continue to condemn drone attacks. This war was started by the United States ...Pakistan has nothing to gain from their war,” he said.
To a question, he said that the Pakistan Peoples Party was no longer the party founded by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He said it had ruled the country for five years and now lacked a leader to lead its campaign.
“When you restrict yourself to media campaigns, you must accept that the people no longer support you.”
He said if PPP leaders cannot face the people, they should stop “distracting them through media campaigns”.
Talking about Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Hashmi said the Sharif brothers had considered Multan a burden. Now the southern Punjab saw them as a burden.
He said in its five years government, “the PML-N had been snatching funds from the south and spending them on Lahore”.
“The Sharif brothers are now promising to resolve the energy crises if voted into power again. Were they sleeping for five years?” he asked.
He said south Punjab had suffered the most under the previous governments. The education, health and agriculture sectors, he said, were all on the verge of devastation.
He said it was high time the Sharif brothers realised they could not set up a Saudi-like dynasty here.

Local Issue, PTI never missed the chance to support terrorism and Taliban.
This statement just goes on to show the disdain and short sightedness with which the PTI is likely to handle the situation in Karachi. Mr Hashmi, the issue of terrorism is the most pressing issue facing the country. Terrorism in Karachi by the enemies of this nation is indeed a national issue. The learned leader should update himself with an excellent piece of investigative journalism by Pakistans most widely read English daily, which clearly states the the TTP have ousted the ANP from many of their strongholds by utilizing their tribal 'binds' with the local populace. The same state of denial was witnessed when altaf Hussain first raised the issue of talibanisation of Karachi a few years ago, and look where that has led us! It's about time the pseudo PTI supporters of Karachi look at the bigger (and real) picture, and reject the PTI on May 11, because frankly, I don't see how the party plans to achieve their goal of 'reconciliation' with the TTP without making significant concessions of which Karachi seems to be the prime target, judging by the statements like the one made by Mr Hashmi.
Good analysis by Hashmi. We all the the elements promoting unrest in Karachi, but still use euphemisms to describe them. Even the media doesn't take a stand by naming the elements involved.
PTI has completely lost it..Completely..If only they had condemned the terrorists and the TTP, not going to vote for rightwing nut jobs. Tabdeeli is for TTP not for us. Why negotiate with those who have broken several treaties and ceasfire over the period of 3 yrs. Incredible..
