ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Tahir Shahbaz launched the “Clean and Green Islamabad” campaign on Thursday in Sector G-9.

The focus would be on renovating, upgrading and beautifying the sector, which was the most populated in the federal capital, according to Shahbaz.

Addressing participants at the inaugural ceremony, Shahbaz said many low-paid government employees were residing in the sector, while G-9 Markaz was Islamabad’s busiest trade centre.

The participants included the campaign’s chief coordinator, CDA Member Planning and Design Syed Mustafain Kazmi, schoolchildren, civil society members and traders.

“Because of the congestion, G-9 Sector residents face a host of hygiene-related problems,” he said.

Shahbaz issued a directive to officers and officials of the CDA’s environment, sanitation, municipal administration and engineering wings to ensure that all residential complaints and grievances were prioritised and addressed on a fast-track basis.

Shahbaz had earlier visited various areas of the sector to assess the current situation of roads, parks, the water supply system, sewerage system and playgrounds.
