Seven people including a woman and a child were injured as a gas cylinder of a CNG rickshaw exploded outside an apartment block on Abul Hassan Isfahani road, Express News reported on Thursday.
The rickshaw first caught fire and then exploded, injuring seven nearby pedestrians, including a child and a woman, Superintendent of Police Gulshan Iqbal Qaiser said after the investigation.
The sound of the blast was heard for miles around, causing fear and panic in the city. Nearby markets closed down immediately after.
A nearby motorcycle and a car were also destroyed.
The bomb disposal squad reached the area shortly after the blast, while police and rangers cordoned off the area for investigation.
