LAHORE:

District Returning Officer (DRO) Nazir Ahmed Gajana on Tuesday gave PTI chief Imran Khan his last chance to collect the court notice for violation of the election commission’s code of conduct by May 4.

Gajana also fixed May 1 (today) for PML-N leaders Maryam Nawaz, Mian Marghoob and Bilal Yaseen for violating the code of conduct.

On April 28 (Sunday), some lawyers on behalf of Khan appeared before Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Tariq Javed requesting him to issue the notice to Khan that day. Judge Javed then called the DRO who directed him to call Khan to the office at 5pm to pick it up. However, Khan told his lawyers that he would be at a public meeting at that time. Khan’s lawyers said he would receive the notice on April 30.

According to monitoring reports, on April 20, 2,500 PTI supporters had held a rally led by PTI Lahore president Abdul Aleem Khan. The participants had blocked the traffic on The Mall for over four hours, thus violating the code of conduct.
