Suspected abductor dies in police encounter

VEHARI:

The prime suspect in the abduction of a three-year-old girl was killed in an alleged police encounter.

Vehari police conducted a raid near a railway crossing to arrest suspects wanted in the abduction case.

The suspects opened fire, and during the exchange, one suspect was killed allegedly by his accomplices' bullets. The deceased, Muhammad Naveed, alias Noumi or Ghazi Khan, a resident of Karachi, was facing several serious cases.

He was reportedly the prime suspect in the abduction of three-year-old Zoha who had been rescued on Eid.

Weapons were recovered from the suspect, while the police launched a searching for his fleeing accomplices.

In another incident near Khadar Canal, unknown assailants shot and killed a guard, Maqsood Waseer, who was on duty protecting shops. Rescue teams shifted the body to a hospital and the police launched an investigation.

The police said both cases were under thorough investigation, and security measures had been tightened.

Meanwhile, three lives were lost in Vehari and surrounding areas due to speeding and reckless driving.

Abdur Rahman, Umar Akbar, and Shoaib Akram were traveling in a car near a grid station when two speeding vehicles collided with it.
