Tragedy averted: Bomb defused in Bannu
Police rushed to the site, cordoned off the area and called the BDS.
BANNU:
A high-intensity bomb planted by unidentified suspected militants at Sheikh Farid Baba Road in Bannu was defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) on Sunday.
Rukhsar Khan, an official of the Hawaid police, said at around 7am a pedestrian informed police he had spotted a suspicious looking sack lying by the roadside. Police rushed to the site, cordoned off the area and called the BDS. An official of the BDS, Wasal Khan, arrived and defused the bomb. According to Wasal, five kilogrammes of explosives were used in the device.
