KARACHI: Rangers personnel, aided by aerial surveillance, raided on Saturday the Lyari residences of outlawed Peoples Amn Committee chief Uzair Baloch as well as gangsters including Baba Ladla, his brother, Zahid Ladla, and Faisal Pathan.

The raids were, however, unsuccessful as the suspects managed to escape before law enforcement agencies arrived. The law enforcers did manage to detain a dozen other alleged gangsters during targeted operations in different parts of Lyari.

Most of them were released after interrogation. Following the raids, angry residents took to the streets to protest against the law enforcers. They reportedly set fire to tyres and shopkeepers had to pull their shutters down.
