ISLAMABAD:

Supreme Court Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed said on Saturday that lawyers needed to update their education and training continuously to keep up with a changing world.

He was speaking during the concluding ceremony of a week-long training course for lawyers of the High Court Bar Association in Rawalpindi. The course was conducted at the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad.

Justice Saeed said as law and knowledge changed with time, legal techniques would be rendered obsolete.

“The system needs to be upgraded to address 21st century problems, which cannot be solved with the tools of the 16th or the 18th century,” he said.

“Competence or quality is the product of knowledge, attitudes, values, skills and the ability to apply these facets to professional tasks,” he added.

Justice Saeed awarded certificates to all 59 lawyers who attended the course.
