CDA asked to resolve private complaints in a month’s time

Statements of over 106 complainants were recorded by the commission.

A three-member judicial commission, which had made corruption involving mega projects initiated by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) pulbic, has recommended that issues of private complainants should be resolved in a month’s time.


Over 106 private complainants had approach the commission to record their statements and majority of them were those who had not been compensated by the CDA after acquiring their land.

Shamshad Zohra and other affected people from different sectors including C-13, C-16, E-11 and village Baika Sayyedan had recorded their statements as private complainants, seeking compensation of their land acquired by the CDA for carrying out different development projects.

According to the report, a complainant, Zohara, in her statement told the judicial commission that her land in Golra village was acquired by the CDA in 1985 to develop Sector E-11, however, the civic body has so far failed to pay her compensation.

Another complainant, Qudsia Kazmi, whose land was acquired by the CDA in 1969, stated that she remained deprived of compensation despite a lapse of so many years.

According to the report, she told the commission that out of a total of 251 affected people, only 151 people had so far been compensated. She said that the LHC had also ordered the CDA to pay compensation at the earliest.

Over 600 cases relating to the CDA are pending before the IHC and district courts.

Meanwhile, in view of the recommendations of the judicial commission, the IHC will take up the matter on May 3.
