RAWALPINDI:

The second round of reshuffling of the Rawalpindi police hierarchy took place on Tuesday as 68 inspector rank police officers were transferred.

The newly appointed Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sheikh Nasimuz Zaman transferred officers in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum.

Two officers who had been very close to former RPO Capt (retd) Muhammad Zubair, namely Station House Officer Police Station (PS) City Mirza Yusaf and SHO PS Airport Malik Rafaqat managed to get postings of their choice at the Regional Investigation Bureau (RIB)

By taking this unprecedented step, Zubair had violated rules set by the Election Commission of Pakistan and ignored Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Aftab Sultan’s strict orders to avoid transferring any officials in the district.

Meanwhile, four Superintendents of Police (SP) who had not been either transferred or posted were said to be disappointed after they discovered that the most attractive posts had already been filled by the caretaker Punjab government. They also feared relocation to restive regions such as Balochistan.

A police officer on condition of anonymity said the four abovementioned SPs were Haroon Jaya of Potohar Divison, Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif of Rawal Division, Waheedur Rehman Khattak of Saddar Circle and Rana Shahid of CIA.

Newly appointed City Police Officer Abdur Razzaq Cheema who assumed his charge on Tuesday will be appointing new SHOs today.
