Elections to herald change: JI chief

Munawwar says rulers pushed Balochistan into anarchy .

Syed Munawwar Hassan, chief of Jamat Islami (JI), said on Sunday that elections will prove to be harbinger of change and that a revolution was close at hand.

He said this while addressing the JI worker convention in Quetta.

He said corrupt governments gave birth to corrupt societies, adding that a corruption free government was indispensable for the establishment of a corrupt free society.

He said the Jamaat workers were striving for the imposition of Islamic system in the country. “They want to defeat those powers in this election who had been working as agents of the imperial forces and pursuing the American agenda,” he said.

He said that the US was interfering in Pakistan via the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank and is violating the sovereignty of the state through drone attacks.



The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces have destroyed Afghanistan, he said. “Afghanistan is our neighbour and we salute the Jihadi spirit and courage of Afghans,” he added.

He said the Afghans’ spirit of Jihad and thirst for martyrdom had defeated a former superpower previously and has pushed another one to a closed street.

He said it was proved through historic evidences in the past that elections only brought feudal, capitalist and exploitative forces that always remain at the forefront to loot the resources of the country.

He said that American supporters had been winning elections in Pakistan and ruling the masses but it was high time that the spirit of Arab Spring spread in Pakistan.

He said that Balochistan had been turned into a heap of arms and ammunitions and deceit was played with the people of Balochistan in the name of packages. He said that acting on an American agenda, the rulers had pushed Balochistan into anarchy.

He said that former president Pervez Musharraf violated the Constitution, assassinated Nawab Bugti and imposed emergency in the country but was still moving around freely.
