Terrorism: No arrests made in attack on JI leader

QILA DEEDAR SINGH: Four days after the shooting that left Jamaat-i-Islami district amir Bilal Qudrat Butt critically injured, police have yet to arrest the suspects. Butt is now reported to be out of danger.

Several party leaders, including Malik Zaheerul Haq, Rana Naeemur Rehman and Rizwan Aslam Butt, visited him at Civil Hospital on Tuesday. District deputy ameer Furqan Aziz told The Express Tribune that JI, its youth wing Shabab-i-Milli and the Islami Jamiat Talba had given the police till Tuesday to arrest the suspects.

He said a committee has now been set up by the party to investigate the incident independently. He said JI Ameer Syed Munawwar Hasan was being updated on the case every day. Meanwhile, deputy regional ameer Siddique Ehsan Butt has been given the responsibility of the acting district president.
