Shafi Muhammad Tariq has been elected the president and Mehar Ramzan the senior vice president of the Bahawalpur High Court Bar Association. Elections were held on Sunday.

Tariq had contested the elections against Muhammad Yahya Khan and won by 346 votes. Tariq got 993 votes compared to Khan’s 647. Ramazan, the new senior vice president, got 818 votes compared to his apponent Sardar Altaf Baloch managed to get 813 votes.

Supporters of the winning candidates danced for hours to the drum beat and distributed sweets among lawyers and passers-by.
