HYDERABAD: Seventeen election monitoring teams have been created for 9 districts in the Hyderabad division, which has 15 National Assembly and 34 provincial assembly seats. There will be three teams each for Hyderabad and Jamshoro, two each for Badin, Thatta, Dadu and Benazirabad and one for Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari and Tando Allahyar. Regional election commissioner Attaur Rehman said the teams will implement Election Commission of Pakistan’s code of conduct. Each team comprises two or three government officers posted at the BPS-17 rank or above. They will work under an official called the election returning officer. The teams will be given a police mobile to help enforce the code and a cameraman to record any violations. Monitoring will start on April 7.
