At least five tribesmen were killed and 11 more injured on Monday in continuing clashes between two tribes over irrigation water in the Kurram tribal region, tribal sources said.
The sources said that clashes continued in the Shalozan area in Upper Kurram Agency for the third consecutive day. A temporary ceasefire, mediated by political administration and Parachinar Amn Jirga, collapsed late Saturday last week. At least 36 persons were killed in the fighting on Sunday.
The fighting has been raging for the past month. Local people said that the fighting is being fuelled by sectarian discord.
Local people said that at least 144 people had been killed and more than 170 injured over the past month.
