Earlier, multiple aid workers and teachers were killed in the Khyber Agency.
Political administration official of Jamrud, Asmatullah Wazir, said that two unknown armed men, travelling on a motorbike, intercepted the teacher in one of the street in Shah Kas and opened fire injuring her severely at around 9am.
He further added that the teacher identified as Shahnaz was on her way to the Girl Communal School, a community primary school established by Malik Khanwali.
Wazir also said that after the incident, Malik along with his Khasadar personnel shifted the teacher to Hayatabad Medical Complex in his ambulance and reported the event to the political administration official.
“The teacher was rushed to the operation theatre for surgery, however, after three hours of struggle she died. She was shot thrice in the upper parts of her body,” Wazir said and explained that the teacher Shahnaz was the daughter of Ishtiaq, a resident of Ganj area inside the walled city.
Wazir said that the body was handed over to the father and relatives.
Shahnaz wasn’t the first victim that was targeted in the troubled area adjacent to the Peshawar city. Earlier, multiple aid workers and teachers were killed in the Khyber Agency.
Earlier in October 2012, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from Swat valley, Malala Yousafzai, was shot in the head by the Taliban for advocating girls' education.

Can one believe that this was the statement of Qaid-e-Azam about the then North West Frontier Province?, " Don't forget the minority provinces. Why do we protest the attacks on Shahnaz and Malala when, in fact, we are going to vote for the same looters of ANP and the same protecters of Islam from JUI? Is it important to stop killing of innocent women than changing the name of a province, to gain some more votes from the dumbs and make some more money? The Government and ministers of the ANP broke all the records of corruption, loot and plunder of the treasury during their rule. The sacrifices of some of the leaders of the ANP is totally a different and separate story, so don't go there. We accept and salute that. But the real tragedy is, that the MPAs and ministers cashed these sacrifices bluntly and cowardly. The finance minister ( a PPP MPA) of the KPK has more sophisticated security system/detector on his main entrance than any, installed in the airports of the UK and the USA. Is he more special human being than a female teacher? Yes, he is. This is the story of the ANP now. They did not have time to spare for taking steps to protect the 'people'. These practices and luxuries of these so-called leaders, and our habit of blind imitation are costing us the lives of teachers and innocent people. But we will always beat the drum of the sacrifices of the leaders of the party and make money for our children, out of it. The children of these ministers are more blessed by God than the common people of this country. They need more protection because, if they are not safe, who will rule the country tomorrow? Producing teachers is not that big a problem or is it?

We are deeply saddened to read about the death of this teacher. Who would’ve thought that being a teacher would become a risky proposition in this part of the world? One would expect these enemies of the region to have some mercy towards those who are harmless, and are only working to better the society. But it is only safe to say that they are not leaving any stone unturned in their bid to destabilize the region. Incidents like these should send a wakeup call to those who allow conspiracy theories to plague their mind. These terrorists are not wasting any time in furthering their dangerous objectives. We must not set ourselves back by becoming our own enemies. We must refrain from indulging in conspiracy theories and support our governments in going after these terrorists. After overcoming many challenges over the years, our governments have realized the importance of working together to combat our common enemies. We hope to continue our partnership for the sake of restoring peace in the region. Otherwise, these militants will continue to spread fear and chaos through the killings of innocents.
Our most sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and families of this teacher who fell victim to this senseless act of terror.

Whoever is behind this cannot be a Muslim! Ulemas should give fatwas against such acts of cowardice. The killers must be brought to justice. Enlightened Muslims must unite against such violence,especially against women. These people have hijacked and tailored Islam according to their twisted way of thinking... the message of Islam protects everyone, Muslim or non-Muslim alike! Women should be educated as scholars/historians of islam, theologians so that they could debate with the men on the various issues in Islam. There is a great need for both, secular and religious education for girls, so that they are well-equipped with the right understanding of their faith. Women knowing more than men and finding out the truth about their rights in Islam makes men nervous. People are addicted to power religious or political. Islam is the message of peace, kindness and compassion for all!

They did not dare to meet her with words, so they used bullets. Where I come from, we would call them chickens or weaklings. Even if they were physically strong. Men that are afraid of women, just because they are women and educated, are chickens. Let us call them out!

I follow the school of thought you describe as Wahabi, but I certainly cannot condone what happened to the teacher, and I certainly cannot agree with your statement either. Being wahabi does not automatically make me a militant, non-tolerant or even close minded. I will be the first to stand up and say that the shooting of this teacher was wrong by any standard, be it secular or religious.
I hope and pray for a day that all life, be that of a Muslim or a non-Muslim, is sacred and protected in my country, and that people are pragmatic enough to realize that simply because someone follows another school of thought, it does not automatically make him a terrorist.

What a brave act! Killing an unarmed lady by two brave men is what has comes down to. Keep your girls locked up & illitrate & boys taught to kill innocents. Couldn't stop the ever challenging brain & reason, now resorting to killing the desire of knowledge by killing women. What a solid way of stopping the thought the human is rewarded by God. My father was a teacher and this never happened in Pakistan 50 years ago. This is the direct consequence of letting the Wahhabis into our country and let them dictate how we should live,dress, pray eat and sleep. We need to end our crazy fetish with everything Arab.
