Military reassures ECP of all possible assistance

ECP, military officials to reconvene with details of sensitive areas for polling to make comprehensive security plan.

RAWALPINDI: The army on Friday reassured the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that it would provide all possible assistance for peaceful conduct of elections.

According to an Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR) release, Secretary ECP Ishtiaq Ahmed visited the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday and met with military authorities.

Issues relating to provision of security during the elections were discussed. Ahmed shared initial details of sensitive areas for polling with military officials.

After due deliberations, it was decided to hold another meeting in the next couple of weeks after the ECP has worked out all the details of security requirement across the country, to be able to evolve a comprehensive security plan.
