By-polls for PS-94 postponed
Election Commission postpones by-elections for the provincial assembly seat vacated after MQM Raza Haider's murder.
KARACHI:
The Election Commission has postponed the by-election of the provincial assembly seat PS-94 which had been scheduled for September 22.
The by-polls have been postponed on the request of the Government of Sindh.
According to the provincial chief election commissioner, polling will now take place on October 17. The PS-94 seat has been vacant since the murder of MQM’s Raza Haider.
Both the MQM and the Awami National Party (ANP) are vying for the seat.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have prepared a plan to maintain law and order in the city during the by-elections.
