SIALKOT/GUJRANWALA:
The family of a 70-year-old woman, who died during treatment at Civil Hospital on Wednesday, protested against the doctor’s alleged negligence.
The protesting relatives said that they had brought the woman to ward number 9 after she complained of severe chest pain. They said the nurses went to call the doctor and returned after some time. They said before they could start treating the woman, she died. They accused the doctor and the nurses of taking too long to start the treatment. They also said that the nurse gave the woman an injection before she went to look for the doctor. They said they believed it was a wrong injection.
The protesters broke some windows of the ward. Before they could enter the hospital they were stopped by the medical superintendent, who assured them that action would be taken on their complaint.
The MS constituted an inquiry team to look into the matter and prepare a report in this week.
Patient’s attendant beaten up
In Sialkot, one of the protesting relatives of a patient was beaten up allegedly by a dispenser and paramedics at the Government Allama Iqbal Hospital. He was later given first aid.
Qaiser Butt had been protesting against the hospital for neglecting a patient he had brought to the hospital earlier in the morning. He said the patient Daniyal, in his 20s, was suffering from tuberculosis.
He said the paramedics left him unattended for five hours due to which his condition deteriorated and he had to be put on oxygen. He said that they reminded the paramedics about Daniyal’s condition several times, but they said they were busy and ignored him.
He said when they protested against the hospital, dispenser Sajjad Ahmed and some paramedics beat him. Police were called and started an investigation.
