Nirbhay was developed by Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) laboratory based in Bangalore.
The maiden launch took place from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, in the presence of senior officials and defence scientists.
According to defence sources speaking to Times of India, "The missile blasted off from a mobile launcher positioned in the launch pad - 3 of the ITR at about 11.54am,"
“The surface-to-surface missile has the capability of being launched from land, sea and air, they said, adding Nirbhay has good loitering capability, good control and guidance, high degree of accuracy in terms of impact and very good stealth features.”
For the purpose of this test, the Balasore district administration temporarily shifted people living in the near the Launch pad-3 to a safe area. A total of “2,586 adult members and 698 children” were moved as a safety measure.
India has the technology of super-sonic missile like BrahMos which is jointly developed by India and Russia. BrahMos has the striking range of 290 km.

Coordinated efforts in 'developing' a missile is one thing, pulling out a new missile from a magic churner every few years out of absolutely nowhere is quite another. Why is that Pakistan is never reported to developing new missiles at any stage and then they come up with a missile that is identical to a M-series Chinese, a Korean Nodong, a Chinese CSS or even Tomahawk!? Why is that it points towards nothing beyond license production and reverse engineering?
India never had to pay for missile consignments in cash, food and fertilizers (12 Nodong missiles transaction). These clandestine transactions have been confirmed to have happened by your own Sartaz Aziz in the past after the news of missile import (components in your terminology) was made public by the NBC making Pakistan, Iran, Syria the assembling sites of these SKDs and CKDs. I do hope you understand the difference between R & D and plain acquisition & transfer methodologies. You must understand that India has gone far and beyond Pakistan and is now establishing itself as a regional power to rival China, which guides the development of its military capability.

Engineering projects of any kind get there parts supplied from all sorts of countries, however it dosen't mean they contributed to the "design" itself. Pakistani engineers/scientists at NESCOM,SUPARCO worked really hard to achieve making/designing our missiles, don't discount their efforts by using useless and unrealible reporting from TOI. If you still stick by your baseless claims then do remember that you had alot of "help" come your way from the Russians.

@ Dq, did you miss the news of India having successfully tested the long range and Intercontinental ballistic missiles already?
As for technology, why would India be seeking help from Pakistan when they could get it from the original manufacturers and suppliers of the Pakistani missiles in Korea and China.

I think the failure shouldnt be taken harshly....Atleast,The missile was able to fly,just that it deviated from the target....
Maybe Indian army can use it at the edge of Indian border and fire at Rawalpindi,it will strike Islamabad :)
P.S. Yeah,I'm trolling my own country's defence..But nothing wrong at aiming at satire at ourselves

Was Pakistan PM giving the message to the Indian leadership during his private visit that any further threats from India military brass will automaticaly invoke Pakistan military doctrine of first nuclear strike? Let us wait and watch if any of the great military Generals speak out with their feet in the mouth again..
