LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 17 prosecution and private witnesses in the murder case against Shan Khusro, son of additional federal secretary and former Lahore commissioner Pervez Khusro, who is accused of murdering his A-Level classmate Hamza Elahi.

Nine of the 26 private and prosecution witnesses in the case appeared before the court on Saturday, but the lawyers for both sides were absent due to a lawyers’ strike on the fourth anniversary of the attempted sacking of Supreme Court Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry by Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf.

The judge directed the nine witnesses, as well as the Burki SHO, to return for the recording of evidence at the next hearing on March 27. The SHO was also directed to produce the 17 other witnesses.

Shan Khusro admits to shooting his classmate while they were on a drive in Defence on the night of June 2, 2012, but maintains that it was an accident.
