RAWALPINDI:

A police encounter in Rawalpindi’s New Town area resulted in the arrest of two suspects after an alleged exchange of gunfire, police said. One of the suspects was injured during the confrontation, and both were taken into custody.

According to police, two men riding a motorcycle opened fire on a police patrol after being signalled to stop. During the exchange, one of the suspects, identified as Shehzad, sustained injuries.

Police recovered weapons and a motorcycle that was later confirmed to have been stolen from the New Town area last month. The second suspect, identified as Noshab, was also arrested at the scene.

Police said Shehzad is wanted in multiple cases, including attempted murder, vehicle theft and other theft-related offences. The injured suspect was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
