More than Rs3 million were stolen from a bank in Saher Commercial Area of Defence on Friday.
According to the witnesses and Gizri police, six men came to a branch of Habib Metropolitan Bank at 11:15am - two of them stayed outside and held the security guard hostage as the remaining four went inside and held the bank employees and the customers hostage.
According to SHO Sohail Khan, the robbers came on motorcycles and after collecting cash from the counter, they managed to escape within 10 minutes. The police are trying to find out whether or not the motorcycle they left behind was snatched from someone or was owned by the suspects. They also have access to the security camera footage that will help trace the suspects. The bank manager, Muzahir Abbas, estimated that nearly Rs32.5 million were stolen. An FIR No. 98/13 on behalf of the bank manager has been filed against unidentified persons.
