LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday again summoned court record for March 27 in an appeal filed against a decree of jactitation of marriage passed in favour of former Punjab governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar. On Feb 12, the judge had summoned the court record for March 4 but lawyers were on a strike that day. The appeal has been filed by Neelofar who claims to be Khar’s wife. According to her, Khar and she were married in 2004. In the nikahnama, she said, the dower was set at Rs2.5 million, a one-kanal house in Johar Town, Lahore, and 110-tolas of gold. Khar also agreed to paying Rs20,000 per month as maintenance, she said. When she approached court requesting a decree for recovery of dower, Khar filed a suit for jactitation of marriage, claiming the nikahnama had been forged. The court ruled in Khar’s favour.
