UMERKOT:

Umerkot SP Riaz Ahmed Soomro met representatives of 30 shrines and other police officers at his office on Friday to discuss security arrangements.

Umerkot deputy commissioner Syed Ahmed Ali Shah Jilani was also present. Soomro urged the shrines representatives to inform area SHOs and SP offices before holding any congregations or gatherings so that security can be beefed up. He asked them to keep an eye on suspects and inform the police or call Umerkot’s emergency centre on the number 0238570002.

The volunteers at shrines should also dispatch copies of their CNICs, two photographs to the SSP office so they can be issued security cards. These volunteers will perform the duties and search the devotees, he added.

“No religion allows the killing of men, so it is necessary to bring the enemies of humanity to their logical end,” said Jilani. “Terrorists are the worst enemies of Pakistan, and do not deserve to be called human.”
