Landslide kills three women in Mansehra

Recent rains loosened earth which fell on the house destroying it, killing 3, injuring 7 other occupants.

MANSEHRA: Three women including two sisters were killed and seven others were injured when the house they were in was buried under a heavy landslide in Torghar district of Mansehra.

The house in Cham Mangri Basi Khel village was completely destroyed when earth loose after recent rains collapsed on the structure.

Shamshal Khan, who was in the house when it was buried told police that his family was having dinner when the heavy mass of earth fell on their house, completely burying all of them.

It took the village people 30 minutes to dig people out of the earth. But by then it was too late for three members of Shamshal's family, including his two daughters.

Those killed were identified as Nazeera Bibi wife of Nasib Zarin, Aeena Bibi 16, Umaira Bibi 18 daughters of Shamshal. The injured included were Shamshal Khan his two sons Tehsin Ullah, Abdullah his wife Bakht Nafeesa, daughter Najma and two nephews.

The injured were taken to the King Abdullah Hospital in Mansehra where the condition of four members of the family was reported to be critical.
